We have a variety of different treatments that will be made available to you. All of our treatments are listed below.

Multiple Chiropractic Techniques

When you come in to see us, Dr. Allen has a variety of different adjustment techniques that he can use, depending on what you need. These include Diversified, Cox, Gonstead, Logan, Nummo, and myofascial therapy and massage. Which techniques he uses for you depends on your plan.

Rehab Exercises

Just like we have different adjustment techniques depending on what works best for you, we also offer the same with specific rehab exercises. These will help strengthen and stabilize your condition. Some of these exercises include resistance tubing, weight, stretching, resistance machines, wobble boards, muscular re-education programs, and balance training. This is designed to help with muscular dysfunction and prevent any re-injury.

Extremity Adjustments

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not just your spine that can misalign. This can happen with a lot of your other joints, including elbows, knees, ankles, feet, or shoulders. At Marshall County Chiropractic Center, we will help with adjustments to help aid any of these joint pains you might be experiencing, to have them functioning properly again in no time.

Spinal Disc Decompression

Have a bulging or ruptured disc? When it comes to our spinal disc decompression, we use a technique called Cox Distraction. We’d best describe this technique as being a gentle force adjusting procedure. It works hand-in-hand with the body's natural design to assist healing properly, therefore alleviating all your lower back pain. Using this method of treatment, we have effectively helped most patients avoid surgery as a result.

Soft Tissue Therapies

Sometimes, the issue is with the soft tissue. In these cases - in addition to electric muscle stimulation – we will use ultrasound, heat, cold and microcurrent therapy in an attempt to help spasm, inflammation, and pain reduction. Additionally, to help heal soft tissue issues you may be experiencing, we may use a variety of soft tissue methods to aid, such as Nummo, trigger point, cross friction massage, and Logan basic expedite soft tissue healing.

Trigger Point Therapy

Speaking of trigger point, let’s break down what that all entails. The trigger point is an area of muscle tightness that is causing tenderness. This tenderness may interfere with the normal functionality of your muscles, and will restrict normal motion and weaken the muscle. It could also result in pain to other areas of your body. Your hands and fingers are used to locate tight band or nodules of muscle fibers. From there, the muscles are compressed with gentle sustained pressure. This will be applied until they start to relax. This treatment method is very beneficial in helping reduce muscle spasms and relaxing hyperactive muscles. As a result, it could allow for faster healing.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Now it’s time to talk about what we offer with our Neuromuscular therapy treatment. To break it all down, Neuromuscular therapy is a program of deep tissue massage techniques and myofascial release. This procedure aids anyone who is experiencing structural distortion as well as the pain that is often a symptom of the underlying problem. We will help bring balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. This treatment method is most effective in alleviating chronic pain due to tension in the muscles of the neck, shoulder, and of course lower back.

Ultrasound

An Ultrasound is a common treatment using high frequency sound waves or vibrations administered in the region of soft tissue injuries and is theraputic. These vibrations - assisted by the application of a special gel - penetrate the deep tissues and thus create a heat response. This treatment will be applied directly to the area where you’re feeling the most pain to help break down and break apart unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue that accumulate. The body's heat response to the ultrasound will increase the blood flow, relax muscle spasm, massage damaged tissues, and speed up the healing process.

Microcurrent Therapy

Let’s talk about Microcurrent Therapy. Our Microcurrent Therapy uses small amounts of electrical current (equal to millionths of an amp) that will assist with your pain and also heal soft tissues of the body. Any sort of injury to the body – no matter how big or small - disrupts its normal electrical activity. Microcurrent therapy is typically recommended in cases involving soft tissue inflammation or muscles spasm. Dr. Allen will often use this specific treatment for extremities or sports injuries. And since microcurrent therapy mimics the body's electrical fields, it helps relieve pain and stimulates the soft tissue as it is healing, muscle trigger points release, and focuses on improving regeneration of the tissues.

Electric Muscle Stimulation

Marshall County Chiropractic Center’s Electric Muscle Stimulation is a special form of electrical current that is administered at the site of a soft tissue injury. Small amounts of electrical current will be induced into the tissues. This will help reduce any swelling. Electric Muscle Stimulation is usually recommended in cases when there are signs of swelling and inflammation. Additionally, the treatment will also help promote general muscle and help with the healing of the affected area.

Superficial Heat

When you come see us for your adjustment, we will help apply superficial heat. We increase blood circulation and relax the muscles through applying hot packs and warm moist towels. Heat will help reduce any muscle spasm and tightness, as well as help calm tissues suffering from long term spasm or irritation. Additionally, it promotes increased circulation to speed the recovery.

Cryotherapy

To put it simply, Cryotherapy is the application of ice to reduce the temperature of tissue directly on or below the surface of skin. Surface cooling will help relax your muscle spasms and also constricts blood vessels, and numbs painful areas. Cryotherapy is typically used to manage acute injuries or exacerbations of chronic conditions. It is effective in both reducing and preventing posttraumatic swelling. You should apply ice packs several times throughout the day in the early stages of treatment. Doing so will help you reduce swelling of inflamed tissues, numb pain, and reduce muscle spasms.
